Blogotitlán is too big geographically, but not by population. I’m still lagging on putting links to some of my favorite blogs, but if you could see it (the old one is here) you might be able to figure out that we’re rather spread out across the map both nationally and internationally. While being spread out all over the place is definitely a strength, I also get a little sad that there are people I’ve been reading on daily basis for a little over a year and don’t know if I’ll ever meet. I’ve met a couple of blogeros, but there are so many I’d love to just hang out with for some tacos y cervezas. I know we all have crazy schedules, but what if we tried to organize a little meet up?
I still frequent the Okayplayer boards. I feel less like that space is an online community for me for several reasons — one of which is the fact that Blogotitlán — is more supportive and intellectually stimulating. Anyway, in 2000, a year or so after the boards took off (I think in 1999 or late 1998) several okayplayers got together for a Reunion in Philadelphia. Since then the location has changed ever year. I’ve attended twice, once in LA and once in Atlanta. Anyway, we don’t have to do anything as elaborate as the Re, but I just wanted to put it out there that it can be done.
If we start planning now, we can save our pennies.

I think that’s a FABU idea!! I vote for Puerto Rico or L.A. in February
I am in!
wait a minute you may not have ment to include me since you wrote…”Blogotitlán — is more supportive and intellectually stimulating.” Intellectually stimulating hahajaja—nope, you didn’t mean to include me…wait a sec, hold on, here it comes…did you hear that burp all the way in Califas?
i think its great that every blue moon you can find people with substenance online.. it’s a great departure from the usual empty and banal personalities people make for themselves on internet.
sounds like a great idea.

I’m in. Next year’s SXSW in March would probably make the most sense since EMC, Seyd, Prentiss, Elizabeth, and Alma all live close by and it’s a pretty central location for the rest of us. But it would also be overly predictable.
Fool, why didn’t you fuckin’ tell me you’re coming to SXSW?! Remind me to smack you really, really hard. I think March in Austin would be great. C’mon, great music from all over the world for an entire week. The city literally stops working for music and drinking–free beer and parties and bands all day–you just gotta be in the know as to where they are–there’s no better place to meet up.
I was planning on housing some SXSW out-of-town hipsters, perhaps, I may change my mind and house some gente de Blog-o-landia.
If you decide to meet up in Austin, I could definatly show face there. Anywhere else I could still give it a shot depending on how much time I have to plan in advance.
EMC don’t believe El Oso he and I and Seyd had planned up on meeting in Austin this past year for SXSW and guess who bailed? That’s right Mr. Oso.
Oso has stood me up in Mexico too.
Tumbleweed,
I like the idea of going to Puerto Rico.
Elena,
I definitely meant you!
Vicky,
This has been one long blue moon ’cause I keep finding really great people. Before it was a handful and you were one of ‘em.
Irasali,
Thanks! It would be cool if we could get a Chicago contingent.
Oso & EMC,
I checked on the dates for SXSW and although it seems ideal I know I probably couldn’t go. The middle of March is right at the end of the winter quarter for me and I’ll undoubtedly be writing papers at the last minute. But if enough people are down, I could arrange my schedule to show up for a weekend or something.
Efrain,
Well, it shouldn’t just be me deciding. Anyone down to do this should put in their two cents so we can maximize turnout. I know it’d be tough to accomodate everyone, but it would suck if it was only three people.
Elena,
I hear osos can be flaky.
Cindylu,
Are you going to invite that third guy in the picture? LOL
I can’t believe that I have absolutely, 100% no recollection of that dude. He’s a nice addition to the photo though.
Cindylu … I hope I’ll get a chance to meet you while I’m out on the west coast in a couple of weeks!
It would be nice for all of us to attend the Bloggies. I was there this past year all by myself and Seyd told me later he saw me and didn’t even say hi
haber que!

I am down. Maybe we could have a reunion in Modesto. We can pitch tents in my back yard. I have nopales growing there so we can have a little barbacoa and maybe I’ll make some platanos and empanadas. Or, I could go down the street and get a bucket of chicken. Of course, as with all of my parties, there will be plenty of sandia, plenty of cerveza, a tequilita or two, and we can play bocce ball.
Party at Nebur’s.
tejas is a pretty central location, and i’ve never been to austin. i’ll see if i can do it.
btw, that third guy in the picture. i swear i’ve seen him somewhere maybe he was visiting from chicago.
I don’t remember him being from Chicago. But then … I don’t remember him at all.
