Miercoles de mil palabras

Show me, show me, show me how you do that trick
“Just Like Heaven” by the Cure

The past few Wednesdays have generally sucked. I have class from 9-11, then a meeting for work from 11-1, class from 1-5 and afterwards some meeting for GSA. Then I go home and try to prepare for the class I dislike the next day. So, since Wednesdays this quarter seem to epitomize the nature of “hump day,” I thought I’d post something that makes me happy.

VR tries to get a tan

For the past few days I’ve been sick, it’s been raining, and I’ve felt pretty grumpy. VR always cheers me up. Who wouldn’t be happy to have a dog jumping up and down as soon as he sees you walk in the house? I took this picture of him on September 4th, the day after my birthday.

My mom, dad, grandparents and I ate leftover cake and icecream beneath the shady mulberry tree (la mora) in the front yard. Of course, VR came out to join us and got what ever icecream or cake crumbs fell from our plates. He rolled over on his back to have his belly scratched, but rather than comply, I took a picture.

I miss VR, summer, and just relaxing under la mora con mis abuelitos.

  1. VR’s ear is missing!!!! Kidding. i know its tucked away. sorry wednesdays suck this quarter, perhaps next quarter your schedule will be fun fun!

  2. omg! that is such an adorable picture. maybe you need to print it and carry it with you so you can pull it out of your wallet and smile whenever weds become particularly challenging.

  3. I LOVE that picture of VR! It makes me want to lie down and take in the sun : )
    Sorry about your rain,
Yes, we still have sun up here in Northern Cal. : )

    Cuidate!

  4. Cindy,
I have class from 8.30 am to 8.15 pm, Tues/Thurs. I feel like I live on campus :)
Oh, could you clarify something for me? My professors keep talking about how in grad school, each class will require you read several books per week. Is that true? That sounds crazy.
Hope you feel better! Your pic of VR makes me miss my puppy Lily.

  5. Joel,
You ain’t never lied. He’s cuter in person.

    Julissa,
It’s amazing what your mind thinks you’re capable of. It seems to trick me.

    Jeff,
I’ve always been a dog person myself. They’re a lot of fun and it sucks I can’t have one at my apartment, but I guess he’d be rather miserable here.

    Maria,
Stay away from him! I’m feeling better these days.

    Brenda,
I don’t know of anything in grad school being “fun fun,” but I can hope.

    Irasali,
Good idea. Carrying a few images around with me would probably help me get through long/rough days.

    Lex,
    :-D

    Esperanza,
    De nada.

    Coco,
The rain just reminds me that the new season is really here. VR does a good job at making sunbathing seem less dangerous.

    Jenne,
In my experience, I’ve only had one course where the professor expected us to read more than one book a week. We had up to 3 to read/week, and the class met once a week. Our quarters are 10 weeks long, and we kept up this schedule for about 5/6 weeks and then switched to a student-directed curriculum without all the reading. Needless to say, I did a lot of skimming for that class. Most classes I take have no more than 200 pages a reading per week, sometimes there’s a book or two assigned, but they don’t overdo it.

    Gustavo,
Great way of putting it. Dog lovers unite!

  6. i’m so anxious to move back on my own and get a dog who’ll be loyal to me. i’d miss being around reese 24/7 tho…

    god i can’t go back to being a non-pet owner… beautiful, simply beautiful lady…
