Mil palabras: cuando caliente el sol aquí en la playa

Playa en Mazatlán
Mazatlán, Sinaloa (August, 2004)

I have a paper and research proposal, plus accompanying presentations for each of those to complete by the end of this week. Yes, it is my favorite week in December, finals. Needless to say, there are many places I’d rather be right now and many things I’d rather be doing. Swimming in the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean and strolling along the beach in Mazatlán are just two of them.

  1. Cindylu: Thanks for a mini-vacation before I start the daily grind. Nothing like a view of the ocean at sunset or sunrise to calm the troubled soul.

  2. hola cindylu,
I was in LA last week (only for an afternoon), sorry I didn’t get to see you. I hope all is well, just stopped by to say hi,
    cuidate and gl w/ finals…

  3. i hate to engage in the unatural (and maybe immoral act) of writing academic papers. even though is about a topic im passionate about (zapatismo) it is truly a pain. i’ll send good vibes your way.

  4. Kjerrina,
You’re welcome. I hardly am awake for a sunrise, so I mainly get sunsets.

    Tumbleweed,
    Thanks. I’m done for now.

    EMC,
I’ve hardly been at my apartment this week, but I’ll look for it when I return, thanks. At least now I’ll have time to work on my CD.

    Lucio,
Thanks. Hopefully you are doing well.

    Diana,
Aw, I’m sad I missed you. Anyway, I hope to see you sometime soon next quarter, it’s been too long.

    Maria,
Thanks. It was a bit melancholy enjoying this beautiful scene all alone. Though I was in Mazatlán with my cousin, his wife, and their son, I spent a lot of time on my own.

    Joel,
The good thing about being preoccupied with school is that I can’t let myself worry too much about what the Dodgers are doing… sigh.

    Xoloitzquintle,
I didn’t want to torture you. I hope you’re dealing okay with that storm in Boston.

    CAD,
Thanks. It’s amazing that the scene really did look like this.

    Normies,
I actually won’t be going to Mazatlán this winter. I’ll be visiting family in Guanajuato and Zacatecas. There’s plenty of beauty there too.

    Vicky,
I know your family in DF would say “what?” if they knew you paid $9 for 3 sopes. On the other hand, I think that’s better than paying $18 for chilaquiles (I didn’t order that, I was too offended by the price).

    Tin,
How’s it going? Well, I hope.

    Tremaine,
I finished with everything by Friday, just as I expected. I think it went okay,

    C,
There’s no snow here, just stress and finals. Bad enough.

    Mariam,
Thanks. That Pacific is so peaceful… heh.
