101 words on my 101st post
As an undergrad, lectures often bored me and there was never enough time to catch up with friends about the latest chisme. In these notes (many of which I’ve saved) crushes were given codenames, chisme was in shorthand and doodles accompanied stories. We never got caught, but got close if the professor looked our way when something humorous made us laugh.
I don’t pass the notes anymore, that is so 1999. Wi-fi in the classroom has made it so I pass email notes and IM my friend next to me about being bored, hungry and wanting to kick an annoying classmate.
Ahhh… I miss those days though! It was lots of fun… *hehe*
Codenames. Yeah, I remember that. But actually I did that more with my sister. We had codenames for our crushes or boyfriends so Mom wouldn’t catch on when we talked about them…
This one guy’s name was Hugo, so we’d call him “O.J.” {Orange Juice} then this other cute guy, he had that mushroom hair cut ya know? We’d call him, “Hongito” LMBO OMG, we had stupid named up codenames like that… and Mom would never know who exactly we were talking about.
THAT was fun! LOL
ahahaa, i made my own “code font” which i passed on to many friends in HS, and I still hang around three that know it by memory! I always got caught passing notes .. but i made sure the teacher could never read them! LOL
Shhh, don’t tell any1, QT31 wants 2 meet u!!!!
…. kidding, just trying to write a clandestine lecture note, here
Ah yes. I do miss those days.
Has anyone actually been in a class where the teaher actually read the confescated note out loud?
I’ve been in lots where they threatened to do it, but they always backed down at the last moment.
I still have a box full of notes from middle school/high school… when I read them now I don’t even know what the hell we were talking about.
I wonder how much editing you had to do to get this down to exactly 101 words. I wish that more people had Bonjour. That way you could actually meet cute people in your class, not just talk about them.
La Bella,
My sister is a few years younger than me, so I didn’t pass notes with her, but she knew all the boys I liked. One kid in high school, named Zack, was called Lithium. The way my friends got to it was by thinking or Prozac which you take with lithium.
Cad,
Okay, a font? Now that is nerdy.
Frances,
I think you’re gonna get me in trouble! Hehe.
Maria,
You mean, you no longer pass notes in class?
Joel,
I don’t ever remember a teacher reading the note. I knew teachers who were very good at making fun of students. My notes are still in the margins of my notebooks.
Oso,
I probably edited about 5 times. There are no eligible guys in my class. There are exactly 3 men. One guy annoys me. The other is practically married (and is a TA) and the third is a long time friend who I pass notes with. And I think I already know who I want to know in the class.
