I can’t wait for the final installment in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I’ve already reserved my copy and will probably try and get it late tonight or tomorrow morning. Last week, I watched the latest movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and two weeks ago I re-read the sixth book in the series Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince so that the story and details would be fresh in my mind.
That’s probably pretty normal.
But let’s not forget the time I dragged a friend with me to go see Harry and the Potters and the green Save Ginny! t-shirt I often wear, which alludes to the storyline of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
I’ve been reading the books since June 2000. That was when I found myself at home for the summer and about to go on a short road trip to San Diego. I like reading in the car, but didn’t have any books on me. My mom had just bought the first three books of the series for Adrian and Lori, my younger siblings. Since Adrian and Lori were currently reading the first and second books, respectively, they offered me the third book. I got hooked after reading The Prisoner of Azkaban and immediately devoured the first two books. A few weeks later, the fourth book was released and I spent almost the whole mini-vacation in Palm Springs holed up in the hotel room with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
The Harry Potter series is one of my guilty pleasures.
La Pregunta: What’s your pop culture guilty pleasure? (This can be about books, music, television, movies, comic books, etc.)
I love the HP series too. LOVE them! We are going to the Grand Hallows Ball at Border’s tonight. Thank goodness I have a kid to haul around and give me an excuse to be there!
I love Harry Potter too. I’m taking the kids (they don’t really care about going, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it) to the Midnight Magic party at Barnes and Noble tonight. My other guilty pleasures? Any and all things Broadway related, 80s hair bands, and cheesy Sci-Fi Channel movies…Supergator was awesomely bad last night.
You are my guilty pleasure.
i’m a harry potter fan too! and i’m kind of sad that this will be the last book. i resisted the urge to pre-order though–i’m hoping it will be cheaper a week later at target or costco. my summer grad student budget always gets a little tight at the end of the summer. i figured a week isn’t too long to wait…hopefully!
Mine is reality shows. I watch a million of them Hell’s Kitchen, Bridezillas,Flavor of Love, Charm School, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Celebrity Fit Club, Hogan Knows Best…
Blogs are my other guilty pleasure.
I’m actually taking a tiny break from HP at the moment. This book is *intense*. My sis and I, having no need for all the parties and hullabaloo around town and wanting our books immediately, headed to the KMart across from the Grove, whose line appeared massively long. We walked into KMart five minutes before midnight to get tickets #5 and 6. There were 10 of us at the most waiting for it and we were safely back at my apartment by 12:30 to crack open our books to read.
Aside from HP, my sis and I have been diehard Beatles fans for about 12 years. They pretty much dominated our entire adolescence. Give us a year in the ’60s and we’ll tell you what the boys were up to then.
I’d say The Simpsons–but it’s too smart to be a guilty pleasure!
I’m religious about the Simpsons as well, I often know the next line the characters are going to say. I still read Mad magazine when I go to the library, the kids in that section must think I’m strange.
“El Gordo y la Flaca”
Reading http://www.perezhilton.com a thousand times a day to read celebrity trash . . . .*blush*
Reading abovethelaw.com to laugh at how dumb the legal profession is.
“Historias engarzadas” and “La historia detras del mito” on Azteca America.
Ellen DeGeneres and Age of Love, so lame but can’t turn it off.
Entertainment Weekly, bathroom reading!
and ofcourse:
myspace
Martha Stewart and my subscriptions to all the other home decorating/interior design/organize your life magazines.
I don’t know what I can actually consider a guilty pleasure since I watch tons of TV, go to the movies at least once every two weeks, buy new comic books every Wednesday, have 11,000 + songs on my iPod and own 300+ DVDs.
I guess resting on my couch in complete silence without a (comic) book would be my guilty pleasure.
My guilty pleasure is celebrity gossip blogs and rosie.com
I can’t get enough of them!
