Jaqui and I had a mutual crush on a classmate. Our nickname for him was “Our Boyfriend.” OB, it was grrrreat. Anthro Man has a super hero aspect to it.

No, it doesn’t bug me even though I hear it about once a week. What does bug me is when they guess in the ‘teens. Come on now, I’m 27, they should be guessing early 20s by now.

My uncle claims the Indio in him makes him less hairy. I didn’t know we could attribute our youthful looks to indigenous heritage.

I totally agree with you, except I don’t get mad (just amused) when people guess my age wrong. I don’t see many people I knew in high school these days, so this is the first time I’ve gotten a comment like this in a while. Most of the time it’s just “wow, you don’t look 27!” I started dying my hair a couple of years ago specifically to get rid of the gray. The canas bug me, but I think it’s more about aesthetics. I don’t think they make me look wise though.

I actually really hate being told that my appearance hasn’t changed since high school or that I look much younger than my 25 years, and I hear it all the time. To me it sounds like it also means I haven’t changed on the inside as well, which is so far from the truth. It mainly keeps people from treating me my age.

Older women tell me I’ll appreciate it when I’m older, but I reeeeeally disagree. I stopped dying my hair last year because I wanted to see my canas grow (still waiting). To me, they symbolize wisdom, not mortality.
