Hola!
It’s my first time here. Just so you know, I’ll be a regular visitor to this blog. It’s really cool.

I’m from the East Coast (New York State) but I was raised in Morelos, Mexico. I’m currently living in New York City and attending college here! So I’ve had different experiences for Dia de Los Muertos.

Dia de Los Muertos: This Thursday, the Chicano org at my school (chicano caucus) will be celebrating Dia de Los Muertos. We’ll have bread, tacos, tamales, arroz con leche, music, an open mic, a mural, and an altar.
Halloween: I will probably go to the Parade in Greenwich Village. It’s crowded, but fun.

To Jeff: I’ve heard of that. but it never happened to me. Where in New York?

I’m DJing a party in Dwntwn LA at Sabor 847 Union Av. on Halloween Night. Its free and we can go afterhours there ; )

On the 2nd its a tradition we can’t let die, Self Help Graphics Day of the Dead.

I have become very critical or burned on the whole DoD thing, but support the spirit of SHG. I think I’ll vent about DoD on my blog…

As I live in West Hollywood, Halloween pretty much comes to me. I basically walk out my door and down to Santa Monica Blvd. and it’s nuts.

Altar at the law school. I have worked on it for the past two years. It is a great moment and one of the few events where the few raza at the school come out to.

Halloween is my favorite holiday. There was a party planned, but it might be canceled if Ryan and James’ baby decided to make an appearance. I have Charlize Theron’s Aeon Flux hair at the moment (my fauxhawk grew out), so that’s my costume. Plan B is the Queen of Hearts.

hmm…the above post about the east coast and halloween does not sound good. which means there is probably even less going on for dia de los muertos.

i will just hope for the best, in baltimore the 31st and invited to the met in nyc on the 2nd…could be worse i suppose

I have tried to analyze why I don’t get excited when Halloween comes around. As a matter of fact I believe I wrote an entry about this a while back, but I think part of the enthusiasm that I lost of Halloween was due to the result of living a Halloween in New York.

On that day most kids didn’t go to school and if you did you were most likely the victim of eggs and shaving cream. I guess perhaps that why I never really get all excited about Halloween and it probably explains why I don’t really dress up.
